    Re: Todays Bike Ride

I have Mavic Ksyrium SL wheels and absolutely love them

Went out for a quick blast over Hatterall Ridge on the MTB tonight... muddy, great ride... feeling strong, just as well, as I have a 70 mile MTB race Sunday :w00t:

Stagger, the Aksiums get good reviews, as do the Fulcrums, but no personal experience with any of them. Nikalas may be able to help, as he may have reviewed them?

I've got Aksiums on my cross bike, fairly light and bombproof, bladed spokes as well, stood up to the rigours of the 3ppp's twice.

Aksiums are a good solid wheelset... can't go wrong with them really.

    Thanks for the replys

I went with my gut feeling and got the Fulcrum Racing 5's.

I now need to get my ar$e in to serious training for both biking and running.

Looking forward to a good summer of both.

Just done my 25k time trial on the new wheels and have a 2nd fastest time ever.
A sneaky little breeze on tops and a set of temp traffic lights didn't help.
Felt nice and pleased with the results.

Got out this morning for 44miles 1300m - round edale mam nick and the dirtlow rake climb - had to eat the contents of the cafe when we got there - after 25 miles my legs informed me that my 2 hour ride fitness had expired and what was i going to do now? (had something to do with nasty climb out of castleton :-) )

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Well, that was a bit epic yesterday

I had a XC race plannede for yesterday, but it got cancelled a few weeks back. I had left it in place as a day booked off work though! So when a friend suggested I'd come with him to race the Gorrick 100 endurance MTB race in stead, I decided to do it!

It was a bit epic and ever so slightly insane, as I entered the 7 lapper, which turned out to be just over 70 miles, on a MTB :w00t: It took me just over 8.5 hours, the longest I have ever been in the saddle! Loved it though, but am now totally knackered and I have the Fred Whitton next Sunday :w00t: Not sure f my legs witll have recovered, but as my friend said: after this, you will find the Fred positively easy LOL

Well chuffed as I was 3rd lady behind the current 12 hr National and European champion and another good, pro girl I left 2 pro's amd last years Sleepl;ess in the Saddle winner behind... Only 3 women actually finished the 7 laps. Well pleased, learnt a LOT, got a LOT better at MTB-ing although there is still a lot to improve on and tested a shedload of stuff for my 24 hr race in June.

Time to wash my hair, which is full of mud and twigs, too tired last night when I got home. And time to get the bike out of the car to give it a good clean.

If it stops raining, I will go for a little spin on the roadbike this afternoon, as my legs can do with a spin! Auch! They hurt!!!
