Good grief this thread is a miserable read.

Personally speaking, it is wonderful to admire great performances without holding an assumption that winners or high achievers must be cheating. Yes, some people cheat in all walks of life. It isn't new and it is a minority. I'm delighted to find my own response is purely admiration for great sporting achievements, unfettered by that bothersome, muttering cynicism that seems to burdon some other people when they watch top level sport.

Well said. I've enjoyed watching all sorts of excellent performances. It's been great to see some "minority" sports too, and even if I don't always know much about them I can still appreciate the athleticism, skill, strength, etc. and don't sit wondering whether/how they've cheated.

Bitter views of people that are good at what they do, but not good enough?

watching olympics this afternoon, had the thought that we could invent some new categories for fell races.

How about rhythmic fell running...you have to keep a hoop or ball in the air while running? Alternatively..synchronised fell running..dressing up in spangly stuff and smiling broadly while bounding downhill...no problem for Morgan D
