Horton Scar Lane..a short way up from Horton-in-Ribblesdale. I guess this will have cleared by now?

Good luck to all racing... it's a stupidly tough race in normal conditions but I reckon this year is going to be a real epic.. quite tempted to come up and watch the carnage unfold.

To be fair the route doesn't take many muddy lines does it? Apart from maybe going up Simon Fell and alongside the wall to Ingleborough, the corner cutting first bit of the descent off Pen y Ghent (which isn't normally muddy but will be after a few bikes have hacked down it) and maybe that descent just before Little Ingleborough down to Cold Cotes? The rest will be full on tracks and lanes, albeit with the chance of puddles?

I might be up there running (maybe on Ingleborough) and laughing at you when you jog/pedal past by the way

Excited and appalled in equal measure. Last 1500' of hill reps last night. Bit of bike fettling and gentle riding to check all's ok and that'll do I think.

    Re: Three Peaks Cyclocross

I had worries having read the long term weather forecast. It said pouring rain and winds up to 47 mph... So I e-mailed John Rawnsley and the reply was:

    Dear Hanneke

The weather is improving this week and Sunday should be fine. The 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross has had all sorts of conditions since 1961 and you may have heard the saying: "When the going gets tough the tough get going".
If the route was changed it would not be the 3 Peaks. I hope you have another good race.

    Regards
    John

When the going gets tough, the tough get going... I am sourcing some lead as we speak, to weight myself down by filling my rucksack with it :w00t:

Stolly, do you still have that inner tube of mine? I am a bit short, so IF you are running along, please take it with you, just in case

    MerrySteve, I have an idea

Can I attach myself to your bike by means of a bungee of some sort, so that if the wind picks me up it cannot blow me away too far? You can function as my anker and tow me too

I can lend you a really really heavy Kona Jake if you want Hanneke, forks look like they've been fashioned from scaffold tube, it'll not blow away so as long as you fasten yourself securely you'll be reet

Roll call? Me: 48yo duffer, about 2/3 down field, Wiggins tribute sideburns, black BeOne bike, black or pink VeloCake gear. And probably an overcoat :

Me: 47 year old biddy, bottom of the field as given up on a sub 5 hr time before even starting, riding a bare Ti Qoroz with blue saddle and handlebar tape, wearing team Jewson-M.I. Racing blue and yellow kit as per my profile picture, but likely to be covered by a red Gore jacket with black sleeves and black gore waterproof shorts. White Catlike helmet, white shoes.

If you see something flying past that resembles above description, it will be me... I am very prone to being blown over :w00t: maybe I should give up my Ti bike habit and plumb for something heavier
