    how do salomon-type lacing systems cope with boggy/muddy ground? don't your shoes get sucked off?

    No, mine stayed on fine. only prob was once lacing them too tight and hurting the top of my foot

    My La Sportiva Crosslites served me well as always, like they have done on UTMB, L100 and everything else. I slipped a couple of times but never came a cropper, until I stepped on algae-covered rock in a stream on the descent of Grisedale. My arm is an interesting shade of black/blue/yellow right now.

    Barny, I'd be able to tell you if I could crank up Tracklogs and have a look at the route, but since my 3-year-old HDD has just died, all of my maps are gone along with everything else since 2005. :-(

    6,984 feet ascent according to Garmin record of Geronimo, maybe he might share a link, i think I saw it on facebook
