Apologies Charmain I missed your original post and just saw the ones copied from FB. I don’t tend to look at the FRA web site relying on the forum to notify me of any interesting updates.

Exact arrangements are still being worked out and a notice will be published on the FRA Website in due course. You don't have to do Facebook.
I refer you to Mossdogs post

"This rather reminds me of the story of our village Bank. First they reduced the opening hours and days. Then they reduced the services you could access when you visited the Bank - referring you to their branch in the local town (now this is also closing in the autumn). Then they gave notice that they were closing the Bank permanently, as the village branch no longer had sufficient footfall to justify its presence! It saddens me that you turn notifications regarding Joss' funeral arrangements into some kind of conspiracy theory. There was a deliberate attempt to post identical information across all platforms at the same time.

The bad news is that this Forum does not have a future and it will be closed down shortly. So, I suggest that you say your goodbyes and move on. Massive thanks to Brett who has worked tirelessly as baby sitter for many years - he has far more patience than I.

The fell running section may be retained as read only and all non fell running threads will be deleted.

Well at least we finally have some clarity on that. I will stop posting after Joss's funeral whatever happens.

Is this our ‘So long and thanks for all the fish’ moment?

    Shocking decision.

The forum is rolling along fine (admittedly with a smaller number of users than in times past), and this sounds like a personal grievance being taken out on the users of the forum.

From a personal point of view, when we were asked to form a "forum focus group", i offered my assistance in any way possible, whether it be some kind of admin/moderator/or anything else, and was not contacted once...

Closing it down is just an act of spite (in my humble opinion)

You didn't come back on this - perhaps as we are coming to an end you would be so kind to do so.

Ok for once on here I will put my IT hat on... I looked into the hosting of the forum when that "focus group" was formed. The reality is that the forum runs on a platform that is no longer supported and it takes a significant commitment from the FRA to move to one that was. Aside from the costs associated with the move, no doubt the hosting cost would also increase for what we all know is a diminishing audience. Frankly, the only way that spend would or should have been approved was to dramatically improve footfall on this site. Maybe we were put up to fail - maybe a genuine attempt to ressurect the forum. Who knows?

Ive just seen the post on the fellrunner page.I'm appalled at this decision. For me this is part of the history of fellrunning. Its as much a part of its history as its members. I'm disgusted and will be resigning as a member if this happens.
What right do they have to remove our history on a whim. At the very least it should all be made availble to thr members.
