Start has been from NTP/Claggan Park since 1971. From 1943 it was from King George V Park, before that it was from 88 High Street (New Post Office). It started in 1895 from the Old Post Office, some races (1899 and 1890) started from the Locheil Arms.

They put a questionaire out at last years race asking for runners views on changes to the start and possible alterations to the route to avoid erosion etc (I sugested I'd rather start from the golf course than the town) - I haven't heard or seen anything to suggest any changes have been taken up but (for example) there was an idea to avoid the grassy bank by coming to halfway lochan on the descent. Anyone heard anything?
