Run of a career so far by Paul, he's a good ultra runner but I didn't think he had that in him to be honest. That's a truly top class run.

He ran 8:09? in the Fling this year, which is a good run, but certainly didn't point towards running an almost sub 15 hr WHW..

Be interesting to read the reports of him and Marco, see where they think they improved.. Richie C again just being Richie.. so so consistent.. to be that consistent over 95 miles is so impressive.
Paul was very disappointed with his Fling, but used it to spur him on for the WHW. The Fling was just one of those days. He's had that WHW time in him for ages but not had the platform until This weekend to show it. Don't forget, he also holds the WHW Winter record! And, it's only four or five weeks since he shattered the Kintyre Way record too.

I've never known anybody train or work harder. I was lucky to be a part of his crew at the weekend, and believe me, that new record was not an accident. His commitment is phenomenal. I had no doubt beforehand that he'd win, but at Auchtertyre I knew we were in for something special. He was flying and completely calm. Totally untroubled. A phenomenal run.
