When it's a dull day like Sunday was (on that particular side of the valley), then something has to give. The shutter speed needs to be fast enough to capture movement with blurring. The ISO (film speed in old money) not too high, otherwise the images are grainy. Depth of field not too narrow, more people in focus ... Ideally I needed more light to knock the ISO down from 1600 for the hill shots and improve the quality of the image. But, grainy can work well.
Blur can be good in some photos too.
I try to move about a bit, otherwise you finish up with 100 shots which has everyone with the same background. Sunday was great because of the looped course.

Bet you wished you'd never asked!

Lad's Leap on the final ascent okay? PM your number from Sunday and I'll look out for you and take LOADS of images at Lad's Leap. I'm trying to be a good lad for the pass out on Sunday!
