All of the halfway houses just show how gutless our MPs are. They are all a case of accepting all of the disadvantages, and getting none of the benefits of control or our own trade agreements. Thats why Barnier wants it. To keep us under EU thumb.

MPS only have two choices with an EU that has always refused to negotiate.
Rescind A50 and paralyse EU until it negotiates, or Leave without a deal and show that project fear was bunk. But even that they should have done quickly. The delay is hurting not helping.

Originally we were presented with a negotiation which would see us having a withdrawal agreement and a signature ready trade deal - distant memories back in the day before the General Election that May wasn't going to call.

We went in to the GE with both Labour and Tory promising to:
honour the referendum result.
leave the single market.
leave the customs union.

They received 82% of the votes with another chunk going to the DUP, UUP and UKIP who also had the same promises, so over 85%.

Had there been a real momentum against the referendum outcome, we might have expected a surge in support for LibDem and Green, but we didn't. Even the SNP vote share in Scotland was down.

I was struck yesterday watching Alistair Campbell making his case for us to Remain. He asked how long will it be for the 2016 referendum to lose it's validity.

and I think there you have the ploy. Delay, as long as possible, accept these extentions, kick the can down the road and perhaps then we'll just say sod it, give in and stay.

I can't see it working, buy I think it's clear from the tactics we see in the Commons that this is what the Remain MPs would like and do it in a way that takes the heat off of them.

Can't see it happening.

In fact I think the latest polling is (unfortunately) going to push the Tories and Labour in to a rather awful BRINO to avoid a Euro Election drubbing and handing a real electoral momentum to the Brexit Party, which might even get some MPs on board over the Summer.
