Thanks for all the interest in the race this year.
I spoke to Thirza who has been busy taking entries, and the races are now FULL. In fact its over subscribed.

The limit is placed due to limited parking available around the area, but please remember that NO entries are taken on the day, even to replace the no-shows.

The CVFR website will have an entry list up with in the next few days, but essentially if your entry got to Thirza by todays post then your name will be there.

I was up on High Brown Knoll and Sheepstones last night and its knee deep quagmire in places! - so heres hoping for a great race day!

Just spent a jolly evening here in Scotland reccying the Trog courtesy of Google Earth and haven't even run out of breathe once. Here's hoping I do better than last year. Arrived in Hebden Bridge at 6pm on Friday evening having driven down from Edinburgh and got a call at 9pm to say it had been cancelled. 500 miles of carbon footprint and I didn't get out of breathe that day either.

If the clag is down I think I shall be wandering around between CPs 2 and 3 and CPs 11 and 12 until the 2009 Trog takes place. Any advice other than holding onto to soembody who knows the way (and so doing will be about 2 hrs ahead of me) ?

Wish I could help bob, but its my first time so will also be wandering around aimlessly.
I'm reccieing part of it tomorrow just to give me a flavour of the pain to come, and to practice my nav skills.

just been up there today and its blowing an icy gale right into your face on the return. Just did the middle section as recommended by forumites. Got wet very early on... ooh its going to be a tough one.

Re: Kit check at start. Is the correct map the route map on the CVFR website or the Ordanance Survey Outdoor Leisure 21 map.? Doing the half btw.

The entry lists for both races are now up on the CVFR website
As Eccentric points out pertex isn't waterproof - and waterproof cover is the requirement for the race
As to the map - the map needs to get you around the route. The website version is suitable so long as its printed clearly. If you've got a dodgy printer that smudges or doesn't have any ink, then carry the OS.

Well the weather looks pretty good for the weekend so we should avoid a repetition of last year. Checking the entry list was akin to opening exam results just in case my entry had gone astray but all is well. Journeying down over the border on Friday to do a walking reccie to take in the tricky bits before laying waste to the hostelries of Hebden Bridge on Friday night. At least we full Troggers get an extra 10 minutes in bed compared with the Half Troggers !!
