In my short running career I've learned one thing, always ignore someone who tries to motivate you by saying "Not far now" I believed the b@st@rd last Sunday, put on a spurt and nearly died because it turned out there was still a mile to go. "Not far" in my book is 100 yards tops

Reminds me of my Action Man days, after a grueling 7m run carting a stretcher made of tank tracks and scaffolding poles between four of us, corporal shouts 'Right lads, the finish is those 4 ton trucks over there' As we reach them they drive off another half mile down the road, the BALLbags. By this time my eagle eyes had failed me, thank god my gripping hands still worked!

Another one not to be believed is "it's all down hill from here" especially from a fell runner, I'm having that one on my gravestone.

Oi, you! Those were wise words Master. Had you stopped you'd have lost places!
Besides, you're always too bloody busy waving and trying to chat instead of cracking on!

I'm superman and that's how she controls me (not). No seriously it's the female section of team krypton, Ozzy Phil and Mick managed a successful ultra series last year and this year deided to enter a team of Kryptonettes and asked mrs C to join.
