Well I'm in and wouldn't mind knowing all the locality bits and bobs, aside from the race, as I've never been up that way before.

Where do all the runners camp, is there parking at the race start and what pub do we go to after? Don't rush to reply , anytime in the next 6 months will do.

If you're coming along to the Sharphaw owl event this Weds we can have a good Ben chat if you like Stolly.

Mind you'd have to wait for me...

Either me or Grifter can give you lots of anecdotal tales as well!

I suspect that might well happen if you tag on the melantee race descent after coming off the Ben. It'd be like doing the skeleton event without the aid of either a tin tray or ice.
    Carnage guaranteed.

    Might make good telly though...

I exchanged emails with the Race Secretary about ten days ago, and he mentioned something about the webmaster having gone missing!

    Re: The Ben Race

There are dozens of threads for this race. This seems to be the major one so here goes. I have in my possession a full resolution DVD of the 2008 race which incorporated the Sky Buff World Championships. It was one of my first OTT attempts to convert someone else's tape to DVD and I edited an hour and a half to about 30mins. Still too long but try as I might I didn't have access to a programme to 'capture the DVD copy and re-edit it before transferring it to the "net". I finally managed to get it back onto a video editor, but all I could do was split it and compress it to about a quarter of its size and resolution. Its done, and up and running. Wharfeego if you watch this, you'll see its not a patch on your last professional production, but it is pretty interesting especially the long downhill chase by the eventual winner Agusti Roc as he let Rob Jebb show him the route down. Enjoy. If you took part last year, you probably feature. If you're taking part this year and haven't done the race before it gives you the flavour! http://www.vimeo.com/5695633 Part 2 should be ready for viewing in a couple of hours. Its on the site but has to be decoded or something?
