I've run in them a bit but mostly the northern part (Lammer Law area) - I would describe it as high moorland interspersed with cleuchs (valleys) - there's a fair amount of roads and paths so it's good for a blast if you're so inclined. If you go off the paths there's a fair amount of wet bits, bogs and peat hags. It's also quite quiet.

I did a round of all Scottish Old County Tops in '02 which included at least one top in the Lammermuirs. I'll look up the ones I did and post something about it... 'scuse my fallible memory.

I spent a few days 2 years ago running over these hills in early spring. Camped at Lauder and had a great time. There are loads of good tracks, enough to make a long day of it although it's more trail than hill.

    that depends on your approach.
The hills are heather clad with plenty of boggy tussocky bits too, great for a tough yomp off the landy and quad tracks if you so desire.

As deeko says they are low rolling hills cut by steep cleughs.
    You can run for hours.

There is an extensive network of landy tracks so you could mountain bike for hours too if you fancied it.
The northern edge has some lovely valleys.

anyhoo, why do you ask ?

I have actually only done one hill there. It was called Meikle Says Law and I remember it being an area of heathery, flat-topped hills with deeply cut valleys and a network of vehicle tracks. A bit like my local Bowland Fells actually.

    Not much help I know....
