Thread: Snowdon Race

    Re: Snowdon 2008

A great deal depends on the weather on the day. Done it in road shoes 2 years ago and had no problems. Last year did it in rocklite 315's but wished I had done it in road shoes again. Its all down to personal preference and the weather.
Yeah i've got some 315's,find they have the same "clomping" feel as the 290,the 320 have alot more cushioning and so have a better heel to toe roll.Your right rock and stone is different in the wet.

I have yet to come across a good pair of fell type shoes that offer the support and comfort of the road based shoes. I suppose its only to be expected with the ruggedness of the terrain fell shoes are made for?

We walked Snowdon 3 weekends running a couple of years ago and everytime was totally different Rain, Frost, Snow, Wind and just about anything you can imagine but by god it was great.

done it seven times and always wore road shoes , and always ok . even the one time it rained .

The course is designed to wear Puma Trail Fox. Its the only sensible option!

Am I the only one who doesn't notice any difference in comfort between the different types of shoe available? I think I must have killed my feet somewhere along the line.

The main difference for me is that if I wear flats on the fells, then I land on my ar$e more often (than usual).

    Re: Snowdon race place WANTED

Pah! I know what you mean - I did Ras Cader Idris as I didn't yet have a qualifying race (only started running in January), as soon as I got home I posted off the application form for Snowdon only to be told it was full.

I'm holidaying in Betws y Coed at beginning of July so will have a run up there then. Won't be quite the same though

Siabod, the week before is a nice race, straight up straight down. A sort of shorter snowdon, smaller event, and the path has a slight lateral slope, but a good simple race.
