My ankles click really loudly especailly the right one, it cause little if any discomfort. Should I get it checked out?

    Re: Stiff achilles

I've had ankle problems since early in the year now - recently diagnosed as peroneal tendonitis ( http://www.eorthopod.com/public/pati..._problems.html ) - for which I've had physio and most recently a shot of cortisone.

At first it seemed like the cortisone had got the inflammation down sufficiently to start excercising it/ training again, but my ankle still feels pretty unstable when twisting. If anyone else has experience of this I'd be really keen to hear from them...

    Re: Achilles

First post so had better start on a low point. I am guessing that the creaking sensation in my achilles is not good news and that should be avoiding running for a little while. Doesn't seem to like cycling either any suggestions on what exercise is available.

    Thanks,
    clarkee

I suspect darts could be good!

Try the eccentric stretching exercises as described here. Drink lots of water too (1.5 litres a day min.)

    Re: Achilles

And see a physio who puts it all down to hips, gluts not working correctly - which explains all the calf strains on the same leg of late as well apparently.

And don't have ultrasound because apparently it doesn't work - there's no evidence as to what it does. And have acupuncture even though you don't like the sight of needles being stuck in you!!

As long as the darts is in a pub I think it should be great exercise....

    Swimming?

    Achilles injury

    Hi all
I've had an achillies injury for the past 9 weeks and I feel it's not getting any better (i've not run for 9 weeks). It's still very painful to touch and I can't see an end to it. I iced it at the beginning for the first couple of weeks, then I've had pysio on it for the past 4 weeks but my pysio says they is little she can do. I'm still trying to keep myself sane by taking the dogs out for long walks and getting out on my bike. Is it a very long recovery? What else can I do? Is walking and biking making it worse?
    Thanks

    I'd find another physio then.

I had this last year and it takes ages to shift (but not as long as plantar fasciitis which I've now got ).

Keep up the stretching, be patient and you should get on top of it. One of the things my physio did on it which I think was useful was shockwave therapy.

I kept up cycling and it didn't seem to affect it. In fact it helped me keep up a good fitness base that helped me run reasonably OK from August to October.

There's more info on this thread.
