Ian I think the shortest way is to stay left of the Woolpacks altogether but that is the easiest to go on a detour too. I think the easiest way, especially if boggy as it will be, is to stay right on a faint trod that avoids going through the Woolpacks, its slightly longer but easier running and in my opinion quicker.
Good look for Sunday peeps, enjoy yourselves and if you have a WAP enabled phone you can post your progress on the forum - I'll read with interest at work.
Am fairly new to fell-running so am excited and bricking it about Sunday ... Lord's Seat to Brown Knoll is giving me a bit of a headache (assuming i make Mam Nick) ... i recced the route on rock hard ground a month or so ago and ran the upper route but think the lower or easterly might be a better option given the rain etc ???? help!
Well I'm going to give Swoop a call should I hit a navigational problem.
Having only been round the route once, I have only a very vague idea of what you lot are even talking about. My game plan is to try and stick on the shoulder of someone in a Dark Peak vest............... even if he goes for the down and up corner cut.
If the clag is down, you'll have to know the lines from Grindslow Knoll to RR quite well to use them to good effect. Down and up may be an option then - certainly a lot harder to go astray on...
Right now the sun is doing its best to melt the last few snow patches on Mam tor and the southern edges.
Sadly the chance of thick clag is looking less likely![]()
Weather forcast is improving all the time

Cheers - Raymond
