had my eyes on a 3hr 15 time and was on course until i decided to jump off the end of grindslow ignoring earlier advice from messers briggs and howie .
but it had to be done
i wouldnt recommend it though , i reckon i lost a few minutes and the climb is horrendous, but i managed to hit the checkpoint bang on, i felt on top of the world when alan yates said hats off to ya young lad for trying that as i scrambled up towards him.
a great day out and thanks to all who helped out
sight of the day must have been ian dark peaks mudclaws
OMG i cant describe them, ha ha
i stashed some liquid en route which certainly helped.
good turn out from the pennine runners.

great weather, nice to see you again dom , hope you recover soon.
again noticeable how quickly briggs hit the flapjack

just taking the dog for a quick 2 miles

Daz - that was some run for someone taking it easy!! Well done. Wouldn't listen about the down & up, though, would you?

Just seen the results. I'm a bit miffed - looks like I was first vet 45, but they gave the prize to some bloke who finished 5 minutes after me . Oh well, next year I'll be a vet 50, so I'll just have to try again I suppose!!

Thanks to all the marshals, organisers & everyone else involved. It was a fantastic day to be out on the hills. Not forgetting Bertie Bassett at the bottom of Lose Hill - I thought I was halucinating.

I missed Dom, although he may have shouted at me I also missed him in the hall afterwards and I still owe him a beer...

That was Darth of the Darkside I sense a new Avatar coming along.

I was surprised how many people didn't know the race lines.

    Feel very tired tonight

Oops, AndyJ has just phoned me to apologise. He's got a prize waiting for me to be picked up! Thanks very much.

I'm not so sure Daz - I know who you are now and I had a bit of a gap in front of you when you must have gone down and up. You only finished a minute behind me and I was feeling pretty good at the end so I wasn't hanging around (in fact one of the marshalls at Ringing Roger said I hadn't been trying hard enough...) When the splits come out you might find you actually saved a bit of time. I would have had a go myself, but I hadn't recced it and went for the safer option. Quite pleased with the run, though 7 mins slower than 2006, still it was much boggier today (and windier in places.)
    Cheers,

I recognized him despite that ridiculous costume. A bloke near me said, "I suppose it takes all sorts!

No, but it may have happened on the bit of a descent from Crookstone Knoll. I noticed it as I reached Win Hill. It then hurt like buggery descending to Hope but I bashed on up Lose Hill. Unfortunately on the descent after the ladder over the fence it was stabbingly painful - I ended up hobbling through the woods and then walking to Mam Tor.

A shame really as I'd been going well at the start, reaching Win Hill in 1 hr and two minutes or so.
