I ran the half marathon last year - which got to be up for one of the toughest and most scenic half marathons in the universe. There are some cracking hill climbs as you'd expect in Langdale, which keeps alot of 'normal' road runners away. It may also clash with the Nottingham half and marathon which attracts bazillions of competitors and sponsorship runners, all probably making the Great Langdale race all the better for it. It also clashed with the 3 Shires last year but thats a week later for 2008.
I've run the half 3 times and would agree with Stolly, its a cracking route for a road race.
Tough and scenic.
Stayed at Elterwater Youth Hostel which was a perfect base to go from as there is a lovely path down the side of the river to Chapel Stile and the start.
I agree , i ran the half and thoroughly enjoyed the glorious scenery. Will def have a go at the full one day.
Generally going nowhere fast.
Ive ran the Half twice - one after the other.
