What a great race yeasterday. I can see why they call them 'long races' now! Being a shorter distance fell runner myself - 23 miles is a long way. We got through it in the end! (only been training for a month!)

Why did i get cramp off the last 2 fells? I never get cramp - very unusual!

Completed it in 3hrs 13mins - got to be happy with that - my longest training run was 2 hours! Suffered a bit in the last 6 miles though!

What a great day out - thanks organisaers.

    Is cramp a man thing?

I had bad cramp up Whernside coming off the top - and saw quite a few other guys suffering.

I have also read through the postings and it seems a male issue in the main.

I don't think my cramp was induced by "over-doing it". I was well nourished and hydrated going up Whernside, felt in good nick, but couldn't do anything about it coming down the top part of the decent.
It seemed more of a reaction the sudden change of muscle use - steep ascnt followed by running down and uneven descent.

I'd be interested to hear from some of the ladies who got round.

Glad it's not just me that gets cravings for MSG after a long run. 3 spring rolls, beef in Ok sauce and chicken fu-yung hit the spot for me last night. Followed by gallons of water.

What a superb day - brilliant atmosphere. Loved all the support on the way around, especially the cowbells. Can we have 'ski-sunday' theme tune next year for the decent from Inglebugger when the legs are starting to go wobbly? Well done everyone involved in organisation and help on the day.

Well, that was a toughie, wasn't it?

Quite happy with my first PPP performance. I predicted 4h 30m and was in at 4h 24m. Half way to Ribblehead I started to experience stomach cramps and I had to slow the pace as a result. Crawling up Whernside was OK but then on the top had a "spacey" moment and was in severe doubt if I could make the Ingleborough climb. Almost quit at the point but decided "sod it, I can walk" so plodded on. Got a 2nd wind at the summit and tanked it down so happy that I made it one piece. There's always next year!

Good to meet lots of forumites - IanDarkPeak, Stolly, Derby Tup, Manhar et al.

Jamie - your jelly babies were a life saver on the first part of the Whernside climb, many thanks!

Like to run it again but this time a bit more prep (hadn't run more than 3 hours this year) and less complex carbs for brekky!

Hi WP, I didn't get cramp at all in my legs...they were just like jelly going up Whernside!
I had bad stomach pains up and down Whernside though. At Ribblehead I felt really hypo so had had a gel and some jelly babies, and also a carb drink but I think I didn't drink enough water, and I think that's what caused the pains as they went as soon as I had a big drink of water at Hill Inn.

However...I'm no where near as fast as you guys! Glad I gave it a shot though and got round in a fab time in comparison to normal people!!!

Great race yesterday. Big thanks to the organisers and all the supporters around the route.

Didn't have as good a run as I expected. Felt a little nauseous as soon as we left Horton which then carried on for the whole of the race. The legs also didn't want to play either so found the run a bit of a slog. Took 5 minutes of last year's time though.

Will be back next year to try and get that sub 4:30 time I know I'm capable of.

Looking at the results I can find out the time and how many places gained/lost between the check points but not the actual split time positions. Does anyone know where to find the results just for the split times?

My split times were quite 'odd' so it would be interesting to know the actual split results.

Did ok till Ribblehead (1.42) but was very slow going up WS (47) and extremely slow going Up IB (52) but okish on the downhill from both peaks (25 & 42).

It was my first 3 peaks but will definitely be back next year and despite ‘dying’ all the way up WS & IB, it was a great day out!

4:13:03 for me on my first attempt. B*@@er me that was hard.

I thought all was going well until I got to the top of Whernside and found that my legs had decided to go on holiday. I got slower and slower after that and had to have a quick sit down after the clamber up the steps on Ingleborough. Never stopped in a race before.

Coming off Ingleborough was agony. Couldn't lift my feet over the rocks so kept stubbing my toes and hobbled my way to Sulber Nick where Mrs Podro was manning the drinks station. Waddled on to the finish to find that a clubmate who usually runs at teh same pace as me had taken 23 minutes off me from Whernside.

Good fun though. Calf muscles certainly feel it today.

Does anyone know if a Bingley runner was reunited with his Iron man watch?

He fell coming down from Ingleborough and his watch strap broke.

I was walking behind and picked it up......and handed it in to race control. I think they were going to announce it at the prize giving.

Looking at Dom's pictures I think it might have been Lee Athersmith?
