It's a belting race, this, but I started to suffer with cramps coming off Caw, with made for a bit of a slow finish.

Thanks to The Master for handing out the jelly babies near Brim Fell (I think), and of course thanks to Aalish for the jelly babies at Walna Scar Road (& Lloyd for the water).
Blaming lack of Beer after race I meant little stand how could I forget.

Maybe next time I'll take a watch as 12 seconds quicker would have shown a far more impressive time, but I would have had to buy the beers all night if I was to keep my promise....

A grand day out for me, kept it steady at the start, comfortable on the climbs, took good lines except coming up from 3 Shires to Swirl Howe, wandering over the tops and then too far to the right around Gt Carrs...

Came up with some cramp heading towards Dow Crag but some encouragement and advice from fellow runners kept the spirits up!

    Can't wait for Wasdale....

Haven't done a long race in a while, but took it nice and easy, enjoyed the views, and throughly enjoyed it. All of it. First time I've been able to say that about a long race.

The apres fell in the pub was pretty good as well. What a fantastic idea, a fell race sponsored by Jennings! I just had to show my repeated appreciation.

Grosed, I walked along the Swirl How - Dow crag path today. No sign of a ring I'm afraid. (then got chased down the Walna Scar Road by a herd of cows, most undignified)

Me, I'm still very disappointed after yesterday. Tweaked my ankle backpacking in Knoydart last week, thought it would be ok but went over on it 3 times coming off Harter Fell. No stability at all.

Tried to keep going and hope it would get better, pretty much had to walk the downhills and when even the traverse path across to 3 Shires was proving difficult, decided I had to call it a day

Shame, 'cause it's a lovely route and I was looking forward to the 2nd half. Also now worried that it might not heal in time for Ennerdale

Thanks to people who asked if I was ok as they went past - fellrunners are a lovely bunch of people
Bad luck, hope you heal ok, fellrunners are a lovely bunch of people, great atmosphere at every race i've done
Thanks to the organisers and marshals for a great race, need more insect repellent next year, dam those midges

Seem to remember it was Sean Bolland at the prize-giving. Maybe they didn't believe it was Bolland from Bowland. (Or maybe I misheard.)

Just got back from a lovely few days. Really enjoyed the race, though it was very hard. Struggled up Little Stand, but felt a lot better on Swirl How and regained a lot of ground. Then died on the ridge! Not sure if it was the heat or just that I can't go fast and long but really great fun none the less.

Well organised and friendly, so thanks to all the organisers, marshals, fellow runners and spectators who gave encouraging words.

Disappointed with my time of just over 5hours but something to aim for next time. Not feeling confident about Ennerdale now, but think I will try anyway.
its all good time on feet.

trossachs, we must have run alongside each other at some point, as I finished at 4:58. Was wondering for me, whether ennerdale was too big a chunk to chew or not? Have you done ennerdale before, how much more painful is it?

Was up walking part of the route on Saturday with the family - well done to everyone who ran, it looked tough.

Someone had bad heel blisters on Dow Crag - was it a forumite?

Well - what a great weekend. The route is brilliant and the setting couldn't be better (apart from the midges!!). Lots of support on route, water/jelly babies - in fact I'm sure I was offered some boiled potatoes at the Walna Scar crossing (or was I hallucinating?) - can I have chips next year?
Pub is fantastic. I'll be back for more next year - and hopefully a better time (was pacing myself round to be sure I could make the distance in that heat).
