Well no running for 3 days now here in New Hampshire USA. Been really really cold ( about - 12 today) and tons of snow on the ground and no footpaths and I hate the gym. Other than those I have no excuses
I have been skiing today though in a little resort about 30 mins from where I might end up living. But COLD - I have never been so cold.
Home next weds and looking forward to seeing my ol trusty shelf moor once again

Best excuse i've seen yet OHW.
6 miles off road mainly on trails through Alkrington woods at tempo pace. Enjoyed it but will have to back off a bit tomorrow if i'm doing the Radcliffe 12 on Sunday.
PS - Greendale you've got loads of off road around Salford. Pick up the canal to Worsley one dinner-time, that's a nice run too.

Just been for a run on the Paddys Pole route, above Chipping weather crap, rain, clag. Felt good when I got back to the car !!
14 miles in the hills, didn't feel strong.
Had a really strange day today,
Took the afternoon off work with the plan to do 16miles offroad. I am on the back of feeling crappy and have had 4 days striaght rest since winter hill. I felt fine setting off.
I got 15minutes into it and onto the first climb and just could not breath and the legs would not work. Had my astmha inhaler and carried on, this did not work and after about 3miles of struggling decided to call it a day and head home very disheartened about not feeling fit and having taken the afternoon off for nothing.
Had another blast on the inhaler once home, and went to the gym to do some light weights. Once in the gym, my breathlessness got back to normal so decided to have a run on the treadmill indoors, I managed 5 miles at a pretty reasonable pace albeit flat and the treadmills a wreck so it was probable about 4miles. I felt great, so did my weight session. Then got home and decided to test running out doors again, I covered my face with my buff to stop the cold air getting onto my chest and managed 9.5miles hilly on the roads. I felt fine, for seven miles then I decided to take the buff from over my mouth and breath normal air in. As expected the chest tightened up and my breathing was shot and my legs failed me on the last climb. Its really frustrating at the moment.
In total I probably managed 18miles in the 3 separate runs I did.
Sorry to waffle roll on summer
Jamie
jamie - what on earth are you breathing in when outside I wonder?![]()
It's not been that cold today so would expect 'fresh' air of the outdoors to be better than sweaty stale odours of the gym?Hmmm it's very puzzling and I'm sure frustrating.
I too had 4 days rest from winter hill and after the torn calf and wrecked achilles (both of them) I headed off out for a flatish off road run today.
Did 7 miles of slippy, wet, boggy, muddy fields. The first half a mile was torture but figured I'd carry on regardless and managed the run well enough in the end. The rest has helped - recovery would have been impossible otherwise but is it just me, as after only 4 days off I feel like my fitness levels have plummeted BIG time![]()
Its the cold air, Emmi, But I cant run around like zorro for ever.
