Thread: Fell Ponies??

    Re: Fell Ponies??

As far as I am aware, everyone is happy with the status quo. however, we are but a sum of our members and if the happy chaps ever decide they want to affiliate then so be it. I DO NOT speak for the other ponies.

On a personal level, I would be against affiliating because the money would be going to regional athletic organisations / UKA and not directly to fellrunning. This is why I PERSONALLY would encourage membership of the FRA over affiliation. Given that the FRA pretty much looks after itself in terms of organisation and most likely with regard to financing, I personally wouldn't see any need. I also believe that in affiliating you are bound by certain regulations not currently befalling you.....eg- committee meetings, AGM , minutes etc etc...

I would, however, stress once more that I DO NOT speak for anyone other than myself.

It is indeed a shame that we will not allowed to enter the UKA British and Hill running Relay Championships........nearly said FRA fell relay championships there.....luckily, I caught myself on......but i guess there's other relays such as the Ian Hodgson to be getting on with......such is life.

PS- Good luck with whatever you all decide......as long as you continue to enjoy your running thats the main thing.

We are essentially a fun loving club but with some serious runners in our midst very similar to you guys I think.

    Any thoughts, opinions etc.
    Hey up Bigfella,

Looked into it at the beginning and laughed my arse off at the ludicrous amount of official nonsense the very kind lady from UKA sent.

    Its not for Ponies

Im sure we'd like to have a go at the relays but there's always Calderdale and the Mary Townley loop etc. I only race on the fells so the unattached levy isnt a problem for me and i know quite a few Ponies are also members of "real" clubs too.

Fat Boys has to be one of the coolest clubs already, why are you thinking of affiliation?

Any Ponies fancy helping Clive out at the Crow Hill race, Tuesday evening 5th August? (see thread in race section)

A few racing and a few marshalling might make a nice night out
