    Re: Snowdon 2008

I haven't yet managed to see the S4C coverage as I'm managing with a dial-up connection in South Devon at the moment and no freeview, but from what I've read on here it makes good viewing. Sorry to hear about the injuries etc.. Good to meet so many forumites.

I really enjoyed the race. As everyone else has said, it felt very hot and humid, and I slowed down as I approached the tarmac. Still pleased with my top 25% finish, and 4th MV50.

    Excellent coverage.

    My points of note:
    - Mr Gilbert's dramatic end was only bettered by the bandy legged white t-shirted man at the finish.
    - Nick Swinburn had a poor run.
    - Feel a bit for Ricky Lightfoot who's had a good run and hasnt featured at all on the cameras
    - Did anyone else catch Darren Kay staring at Katie Ingram's ass???

Well done to everyone who good through what were obviously very tough conditions.

just checking in in case anybody was worried about me
I'm not in results cos dismally forgot to wear chip
struggled with my perennial cramping abdominal muscle near the top
and with non-functional legs near bottom
but finished in 2:18ish without need of medical attention, so v.pleased

tbh I didn't really consider the heat/humidity to be a factor while I was out there - I just assumed the fact that I was falling behind my 2hr schedule was due to the general difficulty of the course - it was only afterwards that the penny dropped!

Congratulations to Andi on Three In A Row - Legendary Achievement Award!

I assume he'll now be having a go at the Lantern Pike record in September...?

    Re: Snowdon 2008

Last weekend's race was my first Snowdon Race and indeed my first fell race. Why did it take me so long to do this?! Anytime I am active and in the outdoors I am happy - so I was always going to enjoy this, but thanks to organisers and runner's alike for a friendly, well organised day.
I did'nt really know what to expect time-wise, but given the conditions I was happy with 1:57.16 at first attempt.
With regard to question a couple of pages back, on such a hot day drinking fluids is obviously important, but salt intake should occur in such conditions too, and quick acting Carbs for energy - making a useful home made sports drink of pure unsweetened fruit juice, water and a pinch of salt all mixed together a good idea!
Highlights for me on Saturday was 'roadrunner' winning for 3rd time on trot (the guy has such an efficient running action), Katie Ingram great performance, friendliness of competitors generally and great public support all the way up.
Lowlights were the humidity, the spongy section between halfway house and allt moses and those bloody summit steps!
    Well done everyone
