    Sorry Chris,
I cannot make it this year, much as I had intended to, because I'm committed to doing the Pumlumon Challenge (part of the RunFurther series an' all that).

Good luck on Pumlumon next weekend Nick, I'm really annoyed as it is the first one I will have missed - have a wedding to attend in Surrey and no way out of it . I know where I would prefer to be.

Thanks Matt. Sorry you won't be able to make it. The following might make it easier for you to bear:
Think of all the worst aspects of the P.C. - the cloud, wind, rain, ankle-twisting tussocks with crevasses between them and hidden raging torrents that can't be seen but can certainly be heard; lung-bursting climbs with everlasting false summits; quad-busting descents; wanting to run but can't because the terrain is just too darned tough; dragging yourself, exhausted and depleted down that hill to the finish, desperate for lashings of tea and a decent slap-up meal and only getting one stingy cuppa with meagre rations fit for a couch potato rather than an ultra runner who's just given his all out there.
Then look at the situation you find yourself in - comfortable, warm, well fed and watered, having the gentle drone of the church proceedings lulling you to sleep, dressed up to the nines, only waking up to move on to the big buffet and booze-up - lots of comfort eating. Mmmmm. Not forgetting to congratulate the bride and groom of course. As long as you escape before the disco starts to impose itself upon the proceedings, you will never wish to be anywhere else.

Ha ha. I had the Wycoller or the Pumlomon on my 'possibles' list. I think that's just decided it..............

But I love all that - it's my local hill - character building . Would prefer a bit more to eat though .

Bloody Surrey it is then .

Anyone doing this year's Wensleydale Wedge on Sun 16 Nov? Good route with plenty of running (and runners)

You've got me thinking there Derby Tup. It's a great event; I've done it many times. I'll already be up in Kendal for the 'runfurther' party on Saturday. I wonder if I can be sober enough and early enough to get across for that on Sunday? Probably not, methinks. Shame.

I'm going to give this one another go this year. I did it last year, but missed out a few miles including Bolton Abbey. Total white out on the tops. It's a long drive up from Yorkshire - I arrived with about 10 minutes to spare (along with a few others)
