Any news from Wasdale? Did last years record go? Did Fleeter make the headlines again?

No new record, different route this year ady, which im told added another 1/2 a mile each way. Cracking race winning time 1.05, conditions on the top were good, not sure who won, but a few people missed the start!

    Well, I came 40th...

71 of us ran and it was, as WillMarsh says, a brill day for a race! Reckon everyone had an enjoyable day.

I think at the front it was...

    Blokes...

    1. A chap from a club called a bit like Tom's midnight runners or something...(Really sorry if the winner reads the forum - I missed (ok have now forgotten) your name!)
    2. Scoffer
    3. Alan Smith - Deesside

    5. Bruce Elsworth - Wharfedale. Also King of the Mountains winner (Ben, Pike and Snowdon)

    Ladies

    1. Hazel Robinson
    2. ...erm...another lady
    3. A lady from Halifax...

Queen of the mountains - a lady from Lochaber

No ladies team, 1st mens team Wharfedale

Jack and Jill prize - Mike and Hazel Robinson

...so 3 names out of 6 is exactly half a tale

But give young Will some latitudte Roadrunner, he was probably still buzzing after winning U18 race and setting category record for the new course!

Thanks a lot Harry, that 2 miles to the top went on for ages, but what a brilliant race!

    Re: Scafell Pike

The winner was Stuart Bond in 1:05:xx. No sign of Messrs Taggart or Winskill. Times a bit down on last year due to the change to the route to avoid the freshly mown grass.

We've had a debate about the small attendance at this race on this forum before (short race, long way to travel), but I still think it's disappointing that we can only muster 71 for this great race up the highest mountain in England. Mind you, it does make it less crowded.

P.S. I've just plotted the differences between last year's route and this year on TrackLogs. There only seems to be 0.4 miles difference , and the only difference in the ascent is due to the undulations alongside the river. Nevertheless the stagger in to the finish seemed a lot harder this time than the normal glide down the fields.

Aye, I'd like to echo that - ace effort Will! Not every day you get to win a race such as this.
