Hi Emmilou
If you look earlier in the thread It gives a few tips on nav.
When I went round last week end it was all fine. The Bit from O/E to the cairn can be tricky if thick clag is down but there are markers every 100m.
From OE head North for just under 1k then slowly head WNW. stay on South/West side of path as you go past boundary stones you should be fine. If you are on the otherside there is a chance of wandering down Harden or Near Cat clough. If you find your self descending you've gone the wrong wayIf it clear you will not need to look at your map at all.
The only other tricky place is whilst descending from Fiddlers Green down woodlands Clough you cross a bridge and after the next tree (Nr post)go left up the hill for 10 ft and there is the obvious path that every one misses. Do not go down the big track!
The hard bit through the woods near the end is now easy as there is a new path and stile plus Andy will have been out with his tape to mark it which is why he has a chair to sit on at the end...
I've not run the long one so can't comment.
Can't manage Coffee but the Roberts family inc child with waxed legs!! usually mans the CP at Fiddlers with a pot of tea on the go and some snacks.
I'll see what I can do with jelly babies.
Next stop should be tankies...
Graeme there are still places to be had, It'll be good to have you there.
Ian
Hi,
Does anyone know if entries are still available? Please does anyone have a route description they can send me (23 mile), thanks
I am also intending to run this weekend - the weather forecest suggests the bog monster will be ravenous! Take yer snorkels!
My wee sister is also having a trot but shoe choice is going to be an issue for me - will she get away with some good old school Walsh PBs? Montrails and iron studded orienteering shoes are her other options.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the hill, pray for a sunny day with the bog monstyer too busy chomping on the marshalls to bother us helpless runners and walkers![]()
