Thread: Scafell Pike

    Re: Scafell Pike

My legs have felt fine - apart from the bruise on my knee where i accidentally ran into pudgy's dog's jaw - I'm surprised she didnt bite me I hit her with such a force.

So was I doing something wrong to have legs feeling fine - I assumed it was ok to lose about 7 minutes on the descent from the person you reached the top with - hey Stick?!

I can give a little feedback on the La Sportiva Crosslites. I opted to use them at Scafell since it had been dry all week. They are very good on the dry rock and grass - however they were not aggressive enough for the very steep section after the stile on the descent. Everywhere else they were comfy and perfect for the conditions.

How much were they and where from AR?
Saw a pair at Whernside reg as sponsors were Lyon equipment who distribute this product. Looked fancy but maybe slightly heavy/bulky? Looked on WWW but not many UK retailers seem to sell...............

    Re: Scafell Pike

The pair I ran in were free - La Sportiva sponsored a race I did in the summer in the Dolomites and everybody (600) got a free pair!! I have however bought another pair from Lakesrunner on line as "pub shoes" in a more conservative black (free pair are red and orange) - 75 quid.
I find them quite light (compared to my usual mudclaw 330), but I think they are best in the dry - which is very rare since I got back from holiday!!

Must have been a steep entry fee!!!!
Going to try somthing different after my latest pair of 290's die - got to be wide fitting though which does go against the true fell shoe design I suppose.

thanks for the comments about the photos. I might do more of that, it's less painful than the running, and I get to the pub quicker

Hey! Yeah to reiterate what everyone else's said - thanks for taking the photos - at last a picture where I have both feet off the ground! Great race - I well enjoyed it (especially the descent - my legs have just about recovered in time for Autumn Leaves tomorrow!)
