NBAL -I it take that the battery pack on the back of the harness will be big enough to keep the whole thing 'balanced'?

It's far more cunning than that. There's actually no need to carry it at all. This was its first outing last night.

I get the idea. Turn it on, then leave it at home. Go for a 3 mile run down the beam and a 3 mile run back up the beam - with welding goggles, one presumes.

Amex, That's the one that I'm waiting for: Sells for £9.99 in the local hardware store, including re-chargeable battery & charger. Weighs 100 grammes. Goes 100 hours on a single charge. With a 1 mile beam for the full 100 hours. WE ALL HAVE OUR DREAMS

I ordered an Alpkit Gamma yesterday at lunchtime and it arrived today. Initial tests (in cupboard under stairs with half-flat batteries ) are encouraging - much brighter than a Petzl Tikka. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow properly

I noticed it was full moon tonight and had thought about posting about it too Eric. Sadly it is absolutely lashing down with rain here and I for one am not going out to play!
