Isn't West Vale the usual leg1 car park? Stagger's GR seems right.

I agree this looks like the car park, just want the organisers to confirm this, and dismiss the rogue "080224" grid ref quoted 3 times in the blurb, which is nowhere near.

Nope, the race used to start and finish at the Old Rishworthians Rugby Club, Copley, GR 085224. By road, this new car park is a mile and a half away.

I must also question the description given to the end of Leg 6:
"At the canal lock basin leave canal through gap/gate in wall on your left and proceed right on pavement down Stainland Road, under bridge. Approx 100 yards after bridge take track off left up to finish approx 50 yards up the track nr.Clay House"

Assuming you are running south down Stainland Road, and the bridge mentioned is the railway bridge at 098218, then you should turn right (west) not left, onto the track up to the finish.

I must admit that its 9 years since I did leg 1 so obviously changed after then to the Rugby club.

Correct Pike. The track is on the right and does ascend up to the Clay House buildings.

    good evening,
as a newcomer to the Calderdale Way, I was just wondering if anyone knows the approximate amount of climbing on each leg. Looking at the map, Todmorden to Blackshaw Head looks to have a fair bit of climbing, and possibly legs 2 and 4 as well?
    thanks andrew

Leg 3 4.7 mile 1180ft of ascent that would make it an A cat fell race.
    Leg 4 9.5 mile 1830ft of ascent only a B cat race.

These are the only 2 legs I have raced and have stats for, hope it helps Andrew
