The distances covered in last year's OMM were as follows (taken from the teams' RouteGadget plots):

    Elite 78.3 km
    A 69.8 km
    B 59.6 km
    C 47.0 km
    LS 72.5 km
    MS 61.4 km
    SS 44.8 km

Height gain needs to be taken into account also - I've only looked at day 1 winners by contour counting so not very accurate: Elite did the most, closely followed by LS, then A, B and MS who all did similar amounts, then C. I haven't measured the height gain of SS.

Anyone out there want a place in OMM at weekend. Have entered Long Score with partner but had to pull out with illness.
Partner 54 years old, had experience of 5 years OMM/KIMM and Saunders events. Has all kit if necessary.
    Please pm if interested.

    Thanks

I can understand you dropping out having seen the forecast for Saturday!

Mind you the MWIS ones tend to be a bit pessimistic.

I do hope you are right on that!

That was one update I wasn't expecting! However a lot can change in 3 days.

Part of me is pretty pleased at the grim forecast, makes for a fuller test of navigation, route choice, pace judgement (for the score classes) and sheer willpower and mental toughness. Add to that the possible levelling of the playing field that can happen when it gets tough, i.e. the faster guys might not have it all their own way like they are more likely to when it's a simple test of fitness (like it can be in good weather).

That part of me is likely to be eating his soggy words 4 hours into the 7 hour saturday however! On balance though, bring it on and let's see how gutsy we all are...

    Good luck everyone

Another person looking for partner (C Class) as my partner has just dropped out.

Won't be super fast, but have done 1 LAMM before (D) and survived that. Looking for a partner of any ability at this stage, but ideally would be someone out to have fun, keep a decent pace without busting a gut.

Have all kit, though tent is a bit heavy (you might have better one).

Don;t want my brand new balloon bed to go wasted...

(Also posted this on the OMM forum)

    [Edit: Sorted now. Cheers.]

Forecast looks as bad to me as it was for the first day in the Howgills where there was a 70% drop out rate!. Hopefully folk will have learned the lessons and won't skimp on equipment.

Biggest worry for me is the river crossings, at least you can be tactical in the score and avoid the worst, not so easy for the fixed routes !

I was plodding over Pillar earlier in the week, thinking "well it's very windy, but at least it's not bad enough to actually blow you over".

30 seconds later I was lying on my back thinking "ooh, it's got windier then".

Next day I pottered over the usually innocuous Catbells, and on the summit I was reduced to lying down holding onto the rocks to stop being blown down the hill.

    What larks...

MWIS forecast now updated, and it has changed slightly. It's now worse

    Met Office broadly agrees.

Mild with torrential rain and storm force winds Saturday, then getting cold, with gales and snow showers Sunday.

    Bring it on...
