Is Tankys a race or a fun run?? Why, when some people spend hours etc preparing to race the route, getting fit, putting in the sessions and aiming to compete do we then mark the route, give the best refs' etc etc....I'm all for co -operation but my view is if you need all that you gotta ask why you're up there with a race number!.....I wonder what the record holder would say....tin hat on!!!

the only significant "markers" are the stone slabs creating the yellow (ish) brick (stone) road over Black Hill.
If you really want to avoid the unnecesary markings why don't you go round Dean Head, as we used to before Black Hill was made easy and not a challenge, cut straight across the PW between Black Hill and Red Ratcher and continue up to Sliddens and back onto route.
You could then sprint up Rollik Stones whilst the clay pidgeon shooters were having tea and biccies but ignore the fence line going up to the PW because thats also to easy, just follow the grough line but then ignore the PW stones because thats also to easy.
Unfortunately, Bluebike, lots of things are making Tanky's less of a challenge, but I am not claiming making it easy, and if anyone has constructive comments to bring some of the challenge back, our ears are open.
As long as we can satisfy:- United Utilities, Moors for the Future, Natural England and National Parks plus any Health and Safety issues that may show their faces.
Other than that, its a piece of cake.
