    Re: Full Tour of Pendle

Well I've kept quiet up until now. I'd been harbouring a desire to do this despite the very early start I'll need to make to get Barley for a 10.30 start. My main reason for not saying a lot was my lack of job and therefore funds, I could afford it just but the missus wouldn't be happy with me buying petrol and paying an entry over food and other household items. I've just heard I start a new job tomorrow so now can just about justify coming up

Regarding the cut off I thought it seemed rather tame *jinxes self*

Talking of wishing you'd not made the cut off, Pentland Skyline was rather like that lol

Zeno its not the distance you need to be worried about or the cut off. In fact after the first bastard climb most of the first half is a glorious run with a fantastic, all gradual down hill, 4 mile descent along the whole length of Pendle Hill before a small to middle-ish climb and then a cliff like plunge (Geronimo) into Ogden Clough and checkpoint 4. After that though there are a further 4 climbs with the last two up Stile and then Big End complete killers.

think I sort of said that......not quite so eloquently though

Zeno - take it steady, take fuel, reserve energy and be aware if the weather is bad it will be cold and joking aside if you do find yourself at the back - with the likes of me, you may very well need to navigate yourself out of the clag if it does appear.

I couldn't work out why Antisocial queried whether I was 'still alive'. Part of me liked to think it was I run is so many weird and wonderful places where others rarely dare tread but that's of course bollocks........

Antisocial must just know my wife:

Thanks for all the advice, happy enough to navigate off in heavy fog/rain if need be, that all assumes I can get up the hills into the fog in the first place. Seems quite daunting, am tempted though. Suspect I'll be doing more fast walking rather than running up them though. Will pack lots of gels.

Yep can get mighty cold up there but from previous experience there are a helpful couple of chaps at the trig point only too willing to help you on with your waterproof trousers!
That will be the 'willing' Alsoran and fellow marshall who man the Trig, cannot miss him, usually in his tent!
Does a fantastic job every year.
    Say Hello to him.
