Like I said a good run by Emm as she couldnt stop coughing at the start because of the chest infection thing.
To be fair in fell races I dont look at my times in fact when i dropped my checkpoint tags Emm shouted oh you will need them to get round. I wasnt that bothered as i dont normally look at results and never take my times. Stopwatches are not for me. You will see in all my photos that i wear my trusty old seiko.
I only have to convince one person that ive finished and thats me.
Anyway its put things in a new perspective to see how things are further back in the field.
I didnt realise how lucky i was to be able to train without so many things to think about.
Take Emm , 3 children, full time job , training, a dog to look after and she even baked us all a sponge.
Eck it puts me to shame
    Puts us all to shame.
    Did someone mention sponge?
I must've missed out on that one?

I've decided I really hate this race!

It was 3rd time lucky though and very nearly not. Took a really funny turn at the bottom of Ogden Clough. Felt like I was burning up, went dizzy and wanted to throw up. Not ideal I guess running when not really ready for it. After last years DNF and the year before's illness I was beginning to think I just wasn't meant to do this one!!

Anyway...my own personal 'bully' got me round! To be honest if I hadn't had a sherpa goading/encouraging/forcing me to eat, drink, take the inhaler, eat more, drink, eat again , keep 'bouncing' and all the rest of it I'd probably still be there! God know's how he put up with my never ending moaning!

It was good to see everyone indeed, a real social event.

Thanks for the shouts at gerronimo - Kath I could hear you from half way up!! I see you noticed I 'borrowed' your line!

Yes guys I did make a cake and it was duly devoured by those that weren't so speedy and wanting to shoot off to the pub (used all my smilies up - insert the wry smile here!)

I was hoping for a sub 4 but failed miserably at 4.12 so a target for next year......yep you heard!!

So - hill reps up big end......anyone??!

    woo hoo my first AL!

thanks to Mr and Mrs Pee Jay for being my support team

was taking it so easy in the first half i became mildly concerned about the cut off at CP4, think i made it with about 15 minutes to spare.

then i was able to pick it up in the second half and even pass people on the ups

think i got in a few minutes over 4hrs - not sure how many.

nice to see everyone - thanks to kieran and his merry band of marshals!

This is me looking super happy to have picked up 2 jelly babies!

    Re: Full Tour of Pendle

hi all, i have to say for a first long race it was brill, while at the same time a bloody killer!! Great to meet disco stan and daz, and there were a couple of others, cant recall their names (sorry) and of course nice to have a quick chat with the usual others (stolly, Man from delmonte Ady, southern)
. I actually enjoyed geronimo this time, although did some great arse sliding. Second to last ascent i started panicking, my legs were shot and all i could think about was how the hell am i going to do the last ascent. On the way to the last ascent a girl behind me went down with a thud, i just checked she was ok (which she was although a slight limp), not long after she was running next to me pushing me on at the foot of the ascent. managed it and i was sooooo pleased to see the trig. Even better was the few jelly babies i grabbed (cheers to the dudes at checkpoint 10).
From checkpoint 11 back to the finish, my legs were shot, i had no more acceleration in me, just a steady pace. Then a certain pink flashed passed me along with a bare topped Daz, there was no race left in me guys
Must say, the social aspect to this race was briliant, everyone pushing everyone on, telling everyone well done. I will be there again next year, hopefully sub four hour. Cheers organisers, my t -shirt will have pride of place
Oh and thanks to Emmie for the life giving cake at the end
