    Re: edale skyline

I might manage to get to Edale the week before the race, so I decided to look for some tips/advice/route choices etc on the forum....

This 'Edale Skyline' thread has over 100 postings!

Has anyone got a concise list or summary of their route choices, tips etc that they would care to share. I just can't face reading through 100 posts - most of them about meeting up for reccies!

    Many thanks.

Well I've decided not to recce - will just follow the crowd! Not exactly in mega competitive mode though.

It's just seems a long way to go and an important race to get lost in mist on. perhaps it's not about the short-cuts, but more the knowing where to go in mist. Hopefully I can walk it in two days and just get a feel for the route. I dont run outside the lakes much you see.

Ben - did you see my reply to your post on the Kinder Downfall thread (which I think you meant to put on here)?

The general route isn't being discussed because there's a race map available which shows all the big route decisions. The only way to race it in mist without getting lost is to have recce'd it beforehand, hence the endless numbers of recces being discussed. If not, the two important things to remember are:

    1) you might need a compass bearing to Brown Knoll
    2) turn right at the pointy rocks to Grindslow Knoll.

Posts 54-75 give the full details.

That's plain rubbish. This race is perfectly navigable so long as you keep your head and DON'T just follow the crowds.

All irrelevant now - realised it's Mother's Day. I need to stay at home - can't possibly miss out on all that pampering!
