I agree with you totally Andy........The event and the organisation of the day was superb, as it always is. But it's a pity the presentation hadn't happened earlier.
Most of our team had had to go too. My wife and I had to leave before our little one suffered a complete meltdown. A real shame as I'd run an early leg then gone home and we all travelled back over to Mytholmroyd specially for the presentation.
Despite that ......thanks again to ALL. I'm also really impressed with the Stoodly Pike Memento

Does it not say in the rules that competiters running together need to stay together.
rule i) Each pair of runners must stay together at all times.
I was at a couple of change overs where runners were out of sight of their respective partners in excess of 100m. This is has to not only dodgy if your partner falls etc but perhaps more importantly the relays are a team race, there is no team work in leaving your partner, if my partner had left me i would be very p!ssed off. Those runners should ashamed if not disqualfied!.

We had a chat about this in the car on the way back.
If you are the stronger of the pair it is your duty and responsibility to get the best you possibly can out of your partner - that is your job!
You do not run off the front to prove how much faster you are than your partner - you can prove this at the local X-C League or 10k or whatever.
If you get more than say, 10 or 15m ahead of your partner, he/she is liable to think 'fvck you' and slow up even more.
I have been both the weaker and stronger half of a pair in the last couple of years but on both ocasions we ran as a team and did the fastest time we could as a team.
I seemed to spend the whole of Leg 6 about 4 or 5 metres behind my speedy partner, but fortunately I was also 3 or 4 metres behind the lovely Bingley duo of Natalie & Victoria so that encouraged me to keep going faster than I usually would have done!!
Totally agree, I saw one pair who might as well run as individuals, the first lad was well away and paying no attention whatsoever to his "team mate". He did eventaully wait for a good long time at a gate but I think the damage was done. His partner looked in bits!
