Miss Muddy Paws Dad....
Not clever & often stupid..
Going back to the online part of the thread, I can see how it angers people if they open it early. Fair enough if you are on holiday/didn't know about it. I feel for anyone caught out that way.
www.vlaevents.co.uk Fancy something different?
Surely for events that are going to be popular (e.g. PPP) the orgainsers can keep a quote of places aside for postal entries???
I was jammy enough to get in last year's PPP but that was only on account of being sat in front of the PC on the morning that online entries opened.
Tough that if you miss it on account of simply not being able to get on t'interweb.

I think they're rwere only 100 pleaces in the swimming thang, so only the most keen/in the know/lucky had a chance...
from my little fell running experience, it doesn't seem to suffer to the same extent of mania of the Fred Whitton or Etape du Dales bike rides and some of the easy Ironman events, or road running etc etc
not sure why as I reckon it's tougher, cheaper, more risky and more satisfying !
I can understand the problem with online entries especially if you have missed out on a event you really want to do but from an event organisers point of view, and most race organisers are runners themselves, using the online entry system can save them an awful lot of work (freeing them up to get out there and run).....I sometimes think we forget about the people who (usually) put on races on our behalf.
I have already set an alarm on my mobile for the Three Peaks Cyclocross... and will be pretty disappointed if I don't get in...

Hanneke,
from my recollection of last year, the 3Pcx entry is postal, and everyone I know with some sort of appropriate experience who sent their form off on the morning it opened got in fine...
still quite a worry until you get the confirmation through though...good luck
