I just got a Tikkaplus to replace the Tikka i put through the washing mashine. The original still works, but the plus is nearly as good as my myo.

50 degrees for my stinky running gear. I did wonder what the clanky noise was! A couple of months ago i put an i-pod shuffle through the mashine (tumble dried it too!). Still works fine!

The Myo Xp's diffuser cuts down the light output too much and the Tikka Plus is just too feeble. If you get a chance try a Duo 14LED - it puts those in the shade ('scuse pun... ). It also has a halogen bulb for those RARE occasions when you need a 100m beam.

(the last link is probably the cheapest source for a new Duo 14)

Thanks Trundler, but already got a Duo....albeit strapped to mi caving helmet I'd put a Duo at slightly too heavy for running, too.

The Alpkit's weight, especially as it only uses 3 x AAA, is perfect - it's just missing a bit more flood. They need to replace the traffic light colours with more whites!!

Well it would be on a caving helmet...

To be honest I don't notice any issue with the weight at all. I have a number of much lighter headtorches but for anything remotely serious I always take the Duo

Waterproof too. Should stand up to my washing machine.

I went out on Monday night with my head torch but the reflection off the snow mean't I didn't need to turn it on. Best off-road night run ever!

Cannot disagree with that Dom. Christmas Day 2004, it snowed heavily for the latter part of the afternoon in N. Lancashire. After tea I ran up Nicky Nook under a full moon and a totally clear starlit night. Just my footprints in hundreds of acres of glistening, 4 inch deep, virgin snow. I did not even take the headtorch with me that night.
