The top of the second toe on my left foot is a little bit sore -
hopefully slightly inflamed and not a stress fracture imminent.
I intend to run Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday this week but never having done anything like Edale before I wasn't sure what to do. I certainly haven't tapered down as I would have done before a marathon in the old days but I suppose I should have done.

Bombs Away On Harpurhey by King of the Slums - classic stuff - it'd be about 1986/7 time wouldn't it?
Yes - would have been about then - a great tune from another great Manc band. I remember seeiing them on Snub but never saw them live.

    Re: Today's Training

Saturday: 8 miles through what used to be fields and tracks but are now rivers. Knee deep and slow going. The sealskinz lasted for a while but then gave out.

Sunday: rest and eat tons of food and drink loads of red wine.

Today: 5 minute walk, 10 minute jog, 5 minute stretch, 5 reps between the goalposts on the local field: 43.7, 46.2, 47.1, 46.5, 46.5. Ten minute jog, five minute walk, ten minute stretch. Cheese on toast.

Guess which day I enjoyed the most?

Caught the last 20 minutes - Julia Bradbury puffing and panting got right on my nerves

Been for an hour with a personal trainer today had everything measured - amazing what a couple of plasters on your feet and some wires can tell you!

Anyway - quite a good session - intervals on the treadmill and some core work.

More a getting to know you session today and apparently I'm not as pants as I thought but my lungs are!! We are going to work on improving my lung capacity speed and strength so watch out everyone I'll soon be chasing your tail (I hope )
