Would defo highly recommend the excellent ALPKIT GAMMA.
£12.50 very well spent, free p&p, superspeedy delivery, at that price buy a couple.
    Does the job well.
Brilliant people to do business with too!

Unfortunately the Alpkit torches are out of stock until at least April

You're not missing much Toreador. They are good value for what they are and nice and light but have a very tight beam. okay for a steady run out but not good enough if you want to move relatively quickly over rough ground Seems like a nice company to deal with though

Our club had a night score event the other night and Alistair Patten was there with these head torches for people to try. His son makes them in Oz and ships them over.

They're at the luxury end of the market but are well made and not too badly priced.

I had the Gamma in my rucksack as a spare during the Dark (very wet) Anniversary Waltz and it won't turn off now.

Thought I'd give it a few weeks to dry out but its still no good

Hmmm, you'd expect question marks over quality at £12.50 wouldn't you?

    New top headtorch?

Has anyone seen the new Silva Alpha headtorch? It has two arrays of LEDs - one for flood at your feet and one for distance (150m!). Costs about £300 with Li Ion battery.

Looks like yet another new leader could be emerging....

It won't be on my list at £300 quid!

Nor mine, but it's interesting to keep abreast of what is at the leading edge.
