Just finished John Grisham - The Appeal. A bit disappointing. Is it me or has his writing become the same plot lines, over and over.
Same with Tom Clancy. The Jack Ryan books are a guilty pleasure of mine.
Have you heard Deep Trouble on Radio 4? They keep Tom Clancy in a cupboard, and every now and again you'll hear him witter on about the technical specifications of something really mundane. Very funny.
Actually, reminds me of this:

Very good
Reminds me of the mother in law's boyfriend, prattles on for hours about absolutley nothing in particular, you can leave him in a room by himself and he still keeps waffling on. He's handy to take into a packed pub, he can clear a path to the bar in seconds![]()
While on a Big Train tip (last one then we can get back to books!):

It must be fate! They've just played the Ulysses theme tune on 6Music:

(kicks in proper from 50secs)
Though, having watched the cartoon, do I need to read the book?![]()
Hands of a Climber the life of Colin Kirkus
Some Coleridge too. An opium based beverage could help with the latter!
I have a similar problem SS... when still married I lived in a large house, where three rooms were taken up by my library, including the walls of the dining room... so I was quietly able to impress all visitors, without having to admit the books were merely or predominantly decoration...
Now they are almost all in store... out of sight, mainly out of mind...
But I had a rather large bookcase built and it is now full of books and another one coming at some stage (joiner has broken his wrist falling out of the pub...) so some of them will no longer be hiding...![]()
