I'd be interested in seeing the actual route (PM it to me), and my route is obviously based upon this idea, but when I heard of it I thought that it wouldn't be that satisfactory - after you drop down you presumably have to go for a fair bit before climbing back up again else you'd be going back up the same way. With my route you drop down towards the centre of the route so it doesn't suffer from this problem. In short - more ascent, less distance.

Lloyd did, but he reckons that, although it gave him a better overall time, the climb up Ringing Roger means you will be a bit slower on the final descent.

I reckon I'll be slower than Lloyd on the final descent too ;-)

Looking at last year's detailed results it would appear Lloyd was only in third place at CP10 but his "gamble" put him in front at CP11. Having said that, there seem to be numerous errors in the split times so what is the point of having dibbers? For instance, I am sure all the people with 0.00 at CP10 were not disqualified.

The mistakes in those dibber times only appear to be #2 and #5. In particular Lloyd was, of course, always in front.

Lloyd appears to have saved about 5 minutes on the first 10 around him.
If I could save similar, I feel sure it would be 10 to 20 places.
I am going to go Edale tomorrow to decide the best route in my mind.
    BUT
If totally wacked on race day changes my me made.

Looking at last year's results again I wonder if NotOnURHelly won a prize for "most people passed on second half"? By my reckoning he passed over 50 runners to finish 82nd. A negative split by 19 minutes!

Yeah I cant believe that, I was looking at that today.

what happened there. It must have been the dates and bon bons, kicking in.

I did set of very slow, but really got into the second half.

I dont think Ill be anywhere near that time this year.

If you see a wheezing wreck in a yellow vest puffing on an inhlaer. Give me a pat on the back and inform a marshal

There might be something in the starting a little slower to keep some juice in the tank for the second half.
Swoop stop putting ideas in my head.

I found the second half easier than the first, most of the climb is before Lords Seat.

After that every climb is runnable.
