It was a great day out and great to meet so many running buddies / forumites - Chris Brown, ultracollie, IanDarkpeak, SwimmingDunce. There must have been others. There were some good times achieved.

Sorry you had navigational woes, ultracollie. At least it means that a dramatic PB is guaranteed next year.

I've just posted my pics on Flickr! Are any of you there?

Once went up there to a house on fire at Erringden. Got engine stuck between walls! loads of damage! (to walls and engine and house!).
Enjoyed the day and knocked 50 mins off last yrs time!

merry, I can see it on my Tracklogs map as I type. It's not so bad, though. There is a bit of a short cut path to Horsehold.

On Saturday as I blasted down the hill in pursuit of some other runners, an old dear waited patiently in her car on the handbrake for me to reach her, and asked "Are there any more?". I didn't think the road was that narrow and runners were that wide. She was very considerate.

    That's a fantastic PB, Hugh

I was only 10 mins slower than in 2007, so I reckon that's a PB as well, given the longer distance.

Good read Nick, i read the book "On foot through Africa" by Ffyona Campbell, she is one tough, adventurous lady and Ran Fiennes pays her the compliment of calling her "The Greatest Walker of them all"

I saw dozens of people cross the road and even running along it, and not one of them was hit by a car. Handily debunking the point from the road-safety lobby about danger to pedestrians - there isn't any.
