Cracking ride today up to Settle, Ribblehead, Ingleton, Bentham, over Tatham fell & Lamb fell, Slaidburn, Dunsop, Whitewell, Whalley and back home. Stayed dry and was quite clear although gloves and gillet was back on as opposed to last week. Prob 80 or so miles with a few feet of climbing

Wish I'd worn gillet and gloves today, set off in deceptively warm looking sunshine which promptly disappeared leaving me in a strong bitterly cold wind and pretty frozzed by the time i got home despite some vicious climbing reps in my 2 and 1/2 hrs. Just about thawed out after several cups of tea

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

It always takes me forever to find this thread.

Was planning today to be 'bike ride day' but looking at the forecast for today last night i changed my mind.

The wind dropped at about 3 and i set off about 4 ish.

I used this running website thing that plots your route and gives you your distance so i plotted my route a 20 miles out and back blast down the canal.
Its about 4 miles or horrible hills to the canal and then i kept going until i got to this bridge in Feniscoles, Blackburn that was the turning round point giving me 10 miles.

I passed about 10 cyclists spread out going out on the canal and i got very competitive to catch and pass every one of them on my way back. This may be the reason i got home in half the time it took me to do the first 10!

Got put back in my place big time on the way home, about 3 miles from my house there is this horrible long hill and i was out of the seat trying not the die.....suddenly this cyclist went blasting past me and scared the life out of me...made me realises how poor i am in comparison to the majority of cyclist...alot of work to be done me thinks.

Also, forgot how bumpy canal paths are! Got nice and muddy as well.

Allowed ourselves 3 hours for todays MTB ride from Congleton, but having gone over Mow Cop, went over some hawthorn clippings on the canal and spent over an hour subsequently attending to 5 punctures.
So decided to cut short, but make it count by going back up Mow Cop following the "Killer mile" - A good challenge for two 64yr olds.

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

About 100 km with my coach and two other women, one a pro and one a girl who we may well convince to change clubs, to form a team with me... we are trying to get 3 more women to join, so I won't be racing all on my lonesome...

Good to see I was stronger than the pro, but the new girl certainly has better climbing legs than me

Was feeling a bit 'bonky' as well during the ride, as I did not have time to eat a proper meal yesterday, as I was too busy riding and collecting my two new bikes, which resulted in gaining a sponsored bike as well

One of these: http://www.qoroz.co.uk/race-won.php Dura Ace equipped...

Needless to say, I am a happy bunny

I am a bunny, but a very tired one. Dragged over 4 "cols" on a bit of an epic 68 miles. But, brilliant stuff, some of the best hills S Wales can offer and what a day

Now Hanneke, that is a bit of a posh looking steed, can you get sponsored ones for us all doing TdeG???
