Last big training session done before the big day. Anything more is just going to wear me out.

So it is down to a quiet two-week taper which I'm quite looking forward to now.
my taper down doesn't start for another 10 days some big days coming up followed by Calderdale! I'll be alright but I'm a bit worried about my performance at the Downfall though

I was just wondering what people do about water/sports drinks. Would I be best running with a bladder i.e. Inov8 Race Pro12 and taking my own, or are there sufficient water stations along the course? I think I'd rather run with my OMM 3L with essential kit because it's obviously not as heavy.

    Any thoughts welcome.

    Cheers,
    Tom.
Hydrate well with Theakstons the night before?

Ain't entered the Calderdale Hike, but got my own 37 mile route to run next Saturday. My first 3 Peaks, ran the walkers route a few times over the last couple of years and really looking forward to it after being a spectator last year. Only going up for the day though, can't get the time off work
Walked up Whernside last sunday and went down a little bit of the fell route and back up with Mini-Merry, it'll be tougher on the day, and he beat me back up

    Unhappy Re: Three Peaks 2009

    Sorry Folks

I'm afraid I am going to have to withdraw my entry. Just back from spending 3 nights at the Hospital (Not the best location for the Easter break). Managed to get my foot caught in some brambles 2.5 weeks ago resulting in a "snapping" effect. After the initial swelling subsided tried to run on it but it was a real physical effort - wasn't in pain as such just hard work, even 15 mins. Anyway was diagnosed with a ruptured achilles tendon & had the op this weekend to repair it - will have my leg in a pot for the next 2 months.

To say I'm gutted would be an understatement - not only this race - which is 1 of my highlights of the year but forthcoming races that I had my eye in May & June.

May not be able to spectate on the day as I'm not sure if I can drive. Will ascertain if I can swap my entry for a fellow forumite or if it will go to the next person on the waiting list.

Not a happy Bunny - off to stuff myself with an Egg.

Cheers Pilgrim -Thank you for the possible offer. Not a million miles from Radcliffe - Ashton under Lyne. May see if I can manage the short drive to my parents later & will have to see if my leg is strong enough to be standing for a sustained period.

Co-incidentally didn't one of the esteemed Ponies undergo a similiar operation to the achilles ?
