    Joker- respect to your libido.

When I stopped for a pee I thought I'd lost the tool for losing my virginity or anybody elses for that matter. Seem to have recovered now though

Agree with Daz. Saw at least two small mineral water bottles and a few gel sachets. Just about had the energy to be angry.

I feel guilty that I didn't stop to pick them up as I would do if out for a walk or on a training run with a sac. Suspect those that left them have no such feelings of guilt.

On the no shows - I know of one who went down with the flu the night before because I got a text letting me know (I was going to try to get him to show me the way round as he'd recced it). I've spoken to him today and he was gutted to have missed it...there's some odd folk about!

On the Lucozade pouches - I saw two and did think what the f**k, but then again I was in just the right sort of mood to be annoyed; taking rubbish off the hills isn't much to ask though. Putting things in perspective compared to the South Downs the Skyline was in pristine condition.

As for the frozen appendage problem, I was seriously wondering if I might do myself a permanent mischeif as I slogged up towards Brown Knowl (one half of my face had also gone numb); the four and a bit hour drive back home with the heater blasting out lovely warm air seemed to do the trick.

    Cheers - Raymond

yep i knew it, unless it was the same gel packets and pouches that we were all seeing which i doubt i would say probably in total what 20x lots of rubbish on the course, thats just not acceptable
i wasnt going to say owt but it so annoys me
i feel that these people who delib drop sachets and stuff down cannot be true fellrunners.

The cold didn't seem to trouble crowhill in that respect!

I'm afraid I was one of the 'no-shows'. It had nothing to do with the weather as I dragged my daughter up to the top of Jacob's Ladder, anyway. It was an injury that I was sure I would recover from in time, but unfortunately I didn't.

Kinder Downfall now pencilled in as my first post-injury race.

Well done once again to everybody who braved the elements - you all have my utmost respect. (And well said, Daz, regarding the litter. This really is something that makes me mad, too. If we keep going on about it, maybe we'll drive the message home eventually - I'm sure it's only a small minority).

Steely Dan once made a record, the first line of which went...
"In the morning you go gunning, For the man who stole your water..."

I'm not suggesting it was anyone on here, - though you never know - but I'd like to meet the individual who took mine from Mam Nick.

It was quite nicely concealed over the fence by the gate from the road to Rushup. A clubmate, who had stashed in a nearby spot told me that mine had gone when he arrived, about an hour before me, just a circle left in the snow where it had been!

That drink really could have made the difference to my race, (life or death?).

A clear bottle - white top, Yorkshire Water logo on

I think 417 started and I'm pretty sure that when I reached the Roman Road I was last of those still going! . There was certainly nobody in view coming off the Skyline behind me and I passed 3 or 4 runners on the way up to Win Hill despite having to stop for a pee! Those in front of me ran up the "sheltered" path on the left next to the trees. I caught them by running on the fields to the right of the main path and then, where the path started to descend to a gate, cutting across diagonally to the point where those on the sheltered path had to climb a fence. The tactic used to overtake daz h & co on the forum recce!
According to Steve's table I then lost a place on the way down to Hope (402nd) but nobody passed me and Invisible has already posted that he wasn't there!
From here it appears I picked up 11 places on the climb to Lose Hill (391st) and another 7 places on the way to Mam Tor (384th). At that rate I probably would have been in the top 10 by the end!
I certainly wouldn't have been last to finish.
It's a pity that the "timing out" cannot take account of the condition of the runner or the progress being made. I do realise this would be impossible and as Stagger said "rules is rules".
Thanks to all the organisers and all the marshals who stood out there in those conditions. It was greatly appreciated. Hope to see you all next year when I come back to complete the job!
And thanks to Steve Temple for producing a very interesting table.
No problems - just using my head and figured i'd have to do hari kari if i got timed out - imagine the embarrassment of having recced the route 69 times and then not coming quick enough on the big day!
