Co-incidentally didn't one of the esteemed Ponies undergo a similiar operation to the achilles ?
Ashton's certainly no problem for me so if you want a lift just PM me.

Thumbs up Re: Three Peaks 2009

Cheers Folks - especially to you Stagger - how long will the knee take to recover ? Is Mrs S doing the 3P's ?

Stupidley when I phoned my boss I said I may try to get into work on Thursday / Friday despite the fact that I've been signed of by the Doc for the next 2 weeks, if not 2 months.

Will pm you next week Pilgrim.

Sorry to hear you will be out for a while Manhar, 3P won't be quite the same without you there.

Cheers IDP & BJ - Tanky's will be a good un to aim for, should be back well before December.

Haven't mentioned it before John - did base my training on your schedule for the Peaks right down to useful notes re Man Utd's fixtures.

Am hopping around the house with reckless abandon so am aiming to be there on the day to share your ecstasy / pain.

Good luck Manhar. I ruptured my achilles tendon playing badminton some 14 years ago. No op, back then some specialists operated others didn't. Was off work for 10 weeks.

Started running afterwards but my calf is still appreciably smaller than the other side. Still good enough for London Marathon this year and 3P last year!

Managed to get my foot caught in some brambles 2.5 weeks ago resulting in a "snapping" effect. After the initial swelling subsided tried to run on it but it was a real physical effort - wasn't in pain as such just hard work, even 15 mins. Anyway was diagnosed with a ruptured achilles tendon & had the op this weekend to repair it - will have my leg in a pot for the next 2 months.

To say I'm gutted would be an understatement - not only this race - which is 1 of my highlights of the year but forthcoming races that I had my eye in May & June.

May not be able to spectate on the day as I'm not sure if I can drive. Will ascertain if I can swap my entry for a fellow forumite or if it will go to the next person on the waiting list.

Not a happy Bunny - off to stuff myself with an Egg.
Sorry to hear this Manhar, get well soon mate

get well soon Manhar ,might see you at the 3P if you can get across.
I've had an injury-plagued year so far but I'm hopefully gonna drag myself around the course.
