I'm one of the Guinneapigs as well. I already know what it's like from the Round Rotherham last December. It's not that bad. You'll find yourself on many occasions running along clutching a piece of tissue to staunch the bloodflow from your recently stabbed finger. He'll probably have had a go at most of them by the end of the day. You might want to keep your toes at the ready just in case. I'd suggest going without socks. Leaving your shoes behind as well would be a great help 
The recce went OK thanks. A lot of it is clear, but there are always some non-obvious bits in Calderdale. Put it this way, I'm glad I didn't leave the recce until the day. I got all my dithering out of the way in advance. There again I'm not the world's best navigator. I'm sure you'll be fine (mostly).
