    Re: Today's Training

Bit of a catch up here! So the last weeks training and injury woes!

Tues I went out and did 12 on the road. Fastish first 10 just under an hour 8 and then an easy two to finish!

Weds just a 4 mile recov run!

Thurs was down the gym and no running!

Then friday I get a niggly pain just above my ankle when I put my foot down (walking not in the car). So decided to give it a rest hoping it would be better for sunday (edale)
So saturday if anything its got worse, painfull to hop on and run on.
So canned edale (as I didn't fancy things going wrong up there in that weather) and sat on the turbo trainer sunday night for an hour!

    Legs still sore.
It isn't sore to the touch. And when I hop on it its difficult to tell whether its the landing or the jumping bit which hurts most. It certainly feels more bone type pain than a muscle pain!

Am panicking a bit now as its come from nowhere and its only 5 weeks till FLM.

    Any ideas?

Ooh Calf i dont like the way this is going. Let's hope its soft tissue after all, not bone.

5miles on the roads tonight. After a six minute warm up and then every 3 minutes i ran hard and fast for 30secs.

Its tuesday night track fun tonight so going to head down there and see how it is!

I'll have a chat with the coach and see what he thinks.

    Fingers crossed!

Bit of a shock tonight - touched the track for the 1st time since september! A tad rusty shall we say...
Having said that, lunch times run went by like a flash!

Don't despair completely Calf. These pains often FEEL like the bone when they're probably muscular.

Depends on where this pain above the ankle is. Is it high enough to be classed as "shin"? Is it medial or lateral to the tibia? If you've been doing a lot of miles on road and if you might have had the odd calf strain as well, it could just be Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (shin splints to you and me!).

Ice it, gel it, anti-inflamms, rest it....and see how it goes in a couple of days' time.

Hope it sorts itself out Calf.

Today I had a cracking hour on the Downs. Started at Whiteways car park, up on to the south Downs Way west past Warren Bank and the Clump and down to the Three Barns, climb up to Bignor Hill and the new Toby's Stone, down to the car park, left turn for a few hundred metres then east through Houghton Forest, past Gumber Bottom and along the Denture. It snowed good and hard most of the way and the wind was brutal. 225m ascent.

    Re: Today's Training

    Thanks for the encouragment!

Well went to the track last night 16*300m. Mainly 57-59 secs bar the last one which was 49

Pain in my leg wasn't bad, if anything it felt as thou it was tightening up a little which gave me a bit mroe hope about it being a muscle thing.
Put some borfen gel on when I get on and it seems ok this morning. Legs a bit sore but more sore from running quick sore.....you know what I mean.
So am feeling a bit more encouraging about it now!

Think I'll try and stick to the fells for the rest of the week thou, well until Wilmslow on sunday!

    Re: Today's Training

Since getting a dog last week, I have done very little training. I keep having to get up with him at stupid times so he can go and look at the garden. I'm bloody knackered.
