    Re: Three Peaks 2009

Here is today's Pen y Ghent trig point ground and air conditions report, taken today at 1600 hours, GMT:

The ground on the main well used paths and cart horse tracks was solid, with plenty of rocks placed strategically to trip anyone not paying the closest attention. With todays mizzle, drizzle and clag, which started fairly low at around the 700 feet mark, the pennine way that at the weekend was rock hard was this afternoon taking a stud (between rocks, rubble and boulders), albeit only just. Off the main paths there's still plenty of mud and bog around if you know where to look - on race day expect to get muddy at the following locations:

Whitber Hill dropping down to Sell Gill pot
The stretch from Long Mires to Nether Lodge
The first gully bit of the climb up Whernside (stay left because the bogs are neck deep further right)
The last 5.5 miles coming off Ingleborough

The trig on Pen y Ghent today:

The path leading south off the trig (not part of the race route):

As for shoes? I'm wearing my walshes..... but I always do anyway

Never mind shoe types, more importantly, does anyone know whether there will be childrens play equipment, bouncy castles etc again? (It may entice my supporters).

So we shout "Dib dib dibber" then?

I just Googled it and apparently a dibber is a Pointed wooden stick for making holes in the Ground so that seeds can be planted. Do I have to bring my own?
