Thanks TF. Ironically the bit where I turned my ankle I never usually run over because I would normally cut the corner there. So its definitely down to not knowing the bumps and stones personally.

Well done with the new tussockface world record too. 5 hours next year for sure.

Just wanted to say thanks to all those competitors who found enough puff running both up and down Pen Y Ghent yesterday, to say a "thank you" to the marshals, of which I was one. I've marshalled on this event since..... what seems like for ever!!....and it's good to know that our presence is appreciated by the runners. I'm sure all the other 80+ marshals who help on this event every year feel the same.

Bit of a nightmare this year...
After a good run at Edale (3:05) I thought I was in shape for a sub 3:30. However a completely sleepless night on Friday meant I had to fuel up on caffeine and by the time I reached the Hill Inn I was completely empty and pulled up to record my first ever DNF in a race.
Each of the last three years I've done the Peaks I've managed to keep going through the cramp and blisters but I was too exhausted to continue and my head went this year. Next year will have to train a bit harder, get a good night's kip and take on board more fluid. Anyone up for a recce in a month or so?

The marshals on top of Ingleborough should be given medals - it was freezing when I was up there, with big spots of rain

I think good hydration is key to avoiding cramps, just about got that sorted this year with a new sports drink from manchester.

I enjoyed watching and photographing yesterday, 23 miles is a bit far for me these day.
There are a few photos of the leaders, Pudsey runners and a few random other runners on my Fotopic site.

I'm sorry I haven't taken everyone's photo, it would take me ages to convert and crop them.

Almost certainly, I didn't have enough puff yesterday, so I'll say it now! Many thanks to all the good folk (not least the marshals) who make the race possible. The organisation yesterday was fantastic. All the rest of us had to do was run.
